ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Application of product should be placed between Substrate - 50° to 80° F
The substrate temperature during application and curing must be within the limits listed above. Ambient temperature should not be used to judge application temperature. The use of a laser temperature gauge is necessary to find the substrate temperature. If the product is applied outside of these temperature parameters, the product may not cure properly and will not meet specifications in hardness or chemical resistance.
If less than full kits will be mixed, each component should be mixed thoroughly with individual tools. Using the same tool to mix part A and Part B will cause contamination and ruin the material being saved for future use. USB is to be mixed at a ratio of 2 parts A to 1 part B. In clean mixing containers pour the correct ratio in and mechanically mix for 3 minutes. DO NOT USE A STIR STICK! The amount of material mixed should only be what can be utilized within the pot life recommendations of the product. A jiffy-style mixing paddle is recommended to limit the introduction of air while combining Part A and Part B. Do not use mixing paddles that create a vortex. Do not thin!
USB is a clear aliphatic polyurethane. If an opaque surface is required, USB-Tint packs are available in 14 standard colors. For opaque or solid surfaces, 10.5 oz of USB-Tint should be added per gallon of mix. Color should be added to Part A and blended for 2-3 minutes prior to adding Part B. If tinted epoxy is used in an area that is exposed to UV, USB makes an excellent solid color protective topcoat. If the product is being applied directly to concrete, two coats will be required to create a solid color surface.
Provide for ventilation so that vapors do not accumulate. Select appropriate PPE (personal protection equipment). Use of a NIOSH approved respirator is required. Refer to SDS. Do not mix more material than can be spread during the pot life of the product. Discontinue application if the material gets sticky and isn’t spreading smoothly. USB should be applied with a roller pan and roller. 18” rollers with a 3/8” nap are best for moving the material efficiently while not leaving roller lines. Tray liners are recommended so older material does not get mixed in with the new product. Change rollers immediately if they start to stick to the product being placed. USB is meant to be a thin-mil system. Do not let it puddle or get too thick.
RECOAT: Recoat windows are directly affected by the ambient surface temperature. The maximum recoat window will fall between 10 and 24 hours. It is important to apply additional coatings as early in the recoat window as possible for the best results. If the recoat window has passed it is critical to thoroughly abrade the surface with 100 to 120 grit sanding screens. Thoroughly clean the existing coating before abrading to remove potential contaminants. Vacuum dust off the floor then follows by wiping down the floor with a solvent wipe. Allow to completely dry before applying an additional coat at the recommended rate.
